Spot

F-it, I'm going for the turner instead. Thanks for putting it up... I owe you a beer, and not 3.2 utah style. Can I mail beer to utah? Probably would get sent to the slammer.

ugh, twitching my finger on the buy button

Keep reading reviews of how shoddy the stock shock is. Wondering if I should go for that closeout turner 5 spot at competitive instead. Shit. Sorry man! Tormented!

Sir, do you really have the control? If so, yes, black, medium will be mine. I was busy for a few hours there skiing, but dreaming about riding while on the lifts!

no chamois shorts

Friday, August 22 2008, 10:14 AM

I actually prefer the shorts with none (or cut them out). For some reason most the bike companies seem to think if you are a trail rider you don't want a good quality chamois. I buy nice quality bib shorts and wear them under the baggies.

Nice thing about that as well is that you can pull off the liner and hang out and drink beers post ride with a bit more air in your drawers.

Royal sizing

Friday, August 22 2008, 09:38 AM

Anyone know if they run large or true to size? Companies like oakley I wear small shorts, while in zoic I am medium...

Thanks,
Necro

LBS, an alternate view

Wednesday, July 02 2008, 10:12 AM

Maybe I am just unlucky, but I have 3 choices for an LBS in my small mountain town.

Shop #1) Combined XC ski/roadie type shop. First time in there show up in my team roadie kit (when I used to race and didn't realize that salvation lay in singletrack). Just moved to town, looking for group rides etc. Bought some small items, start asking employees about the scene and if there are any group rides. Was told, 'no, nothing like that'. Find out later the shop itself organizes group road rides every week? wtf. Then go in for xc ski gear in the winter and get all kinds of attitude about how cool the guy helping me is. Haven't been back in a couple years.

Shop #2. Combined alpine ski/tuning & primarily mtb shop. Poor service, unfriendly, unhelpful, with mostly big hit bikes thats not really my thing. Brands don't appeal to me, and there's not much for me to want to buy, so I don't go there often.

Shop #3 Tele/at gear in winter, mostly mtb in summer. Good selection, decent brands. The one I chose to be my lbs. I've been shopping there for 3 years, some decent sized purchases. Most the guys know who I am. Wrenches there appear to know less than I do. Issues I have brought in are not resolved well. When I did need a new ride I went in to look at bikes in the 4k range. Got down to pricing and the shop would not budge from msrp. Now, I know they can't meet the prices from big box stores, and I wasn't expecting it, but you need to give a little break to your local peeps.

So, I continue to order the really big stuff, and continue to purchase smaller items at the lbs. As I do all my own wrenching, why would I go pay retail (or sometimes over retail, in the case of buying a new set of g3 bindings this winter.) when I know exactly what I want, and would rather do the installation myself?

bigSAC (great name btw)

But its a cycling lifestyle clothing company (Sombrio). The types of clothes that a particular group of cyclists would want to wear. Just because you choose a different fashion doesnt mean that its invalid on a bike clearance site.

I agree with the previous poster about the castelli jacket (which I bought). That's as much lifestyle wear as this was...

L&M Light

Tuesday, June 17 2008, 09:20 AM

Arrgh, want to buy the light, but all I see is bibs!

As far as it being obsolete because of led's, don't make me laugh. I want to see you out at the 24 hour races with your little led lights. Good luck!

Yeah, they gotta change the standards regularly to be sure our gear gets obsolete.
