Bottomless CL Day!
Sick deals back to back all day long.
With no sleevies, where do you put your armies?
Correction:
"There is a special place in Hell for Oakley Designers."- Katriona
Dude34: "Seriously...enough" +1
I'm reminded of something Katriona said recently: "There is a place in Hell for Oakley Designers." +1
GreeD: Nope.
"Anyway is there another one out there that beats this one on price?"
analogbomb: Your answer is both shrewd and insightful. Very good answer for those who will take the initiative. +1
viffer94: Thank you very much for sharing your experience, and knowledge. I'm sure your insight will also be very helpful +1
I will hasten to add that my impressions are that the features unique to the Kinetic R&R as opposed to the other Kinetic products are of marginal significance for the money. Also, you can score these somewhere in the neighborhood of $500- on a good day, so I'd say their true market value is closer to $500 than $700. I would tend to set my sights appropriately lower down the food chain in any case, in the interest of value for money, but the particular circumstances of these closeout prices are that the R&R Pro is currently less than <$100 more than the base model, and that gives me great pause.
Bring it back! Missed it twice now!!
I broke down and bought one of the Pinarello Galileo's on BC Outlet at 40% off. I can't wait for it to arrive so I can play with it!!!
You know what, I just watched the video from Interbike, and it does a good job of summing up the advantages of the flagship model. Watch that first. Hits all the talking points, minus my sly humor and subtle innuendo (wink, wink).
Here's some important points:
-Dual Flywheel configurable to user preference
-Unique Lateral Movement more realistically simulates natural cycling motions, utilizes core muscles for balance and stability
-Unique Sealed Fluid Chamber/ Fully enclosed Impeller.Proprietary. Can not leak.
-Unique Magnetic Coupling. No Drive Shaft. No leaks. Proprietary.
-Unique use of Thermodynamically Neutral Liquid Silicone. Negates problem of Psychological Training v. Physiological Training.
-Stability. Highest rating. Negative is that it's also inconveniently heavy.
-Noise/Vibration. Highest rating. I'll believe it when I see it, though.
-Quality. Highest rating. Owners rave about this. It's supposedly bombproof.
Watch the (<3:00min) video! And on second thought, there's more than enough sly humor, and subtle innuendo there.
Next, look at the CozyBeehive write-up. That's a nice appraisal of the relative merits of the R&R.
Bear in mind that most of the features, and all of the quality are common to all the models. The base model Road Machine sells @ REI for $319 retail. You can snag the top of the line, flagship R&R Pro for $311.93 at this sale! There are intermediate selections to be had. You'll likely want to add the Kinetic Riser Ring ($20) to your cart. It levels the front of the bike.
I don't know if i can go on, but I'll try. Here's a couple places to look while I get myself together:
Roadbikereview.com owner reviews and forums.
Kurtkinetics.com manufacturer's site
Youtube.com/watch?v=6spExLfn4vY PARTICULARLY a couple of extremely informative videos of the product in action at the bike industry trade show.
Cozybeehive.blogspot.com/2008/03-design-kurt-kinetic-rock-and-roll-pro.html REAL COOL!
Pezcyclingnews has a nice overview of trainers, as do others.
OMG!!! I just spent forever writing up the whole run down for you, and it just freakin' disappeared! Just now! My best post ever- it had a little bit of everything! It's gone! I had references, data, analysis, sly humor, subtle innuendo (wink, wink), something for everyone. I'm absolutely devastated. I don't know if I can go on. What happened, did I time out? AAAARRRRGH!
thanks for the heads up. i just ordered one.
this Pearl jacket would look great with those socks
I've used this product for the past 4 years and can vouch for its effectiveness during any ride over 2 hours long. I always feel stronger and perform better with Accelerade vs. other sports drinks that don't contain protein. Taste is OK, I use the punch flavor at full strength at the beginning of my ride and dilute it as I go along.
You can always make your own... Bulk Maltodextrin, Soy Protein powder, and a little kool-aid/crystal light powder to taste.
