I guess I should mention that the reason I've taught those students so often is I'm (or was) the only French immersion science teacher in town (only one school has French immersion).

by *Rider* (99)

About 85,000. I've been teaching high school for 4 years. Started my new teaching career in 2000 (mostly supply teaching and some elementary school teaching). Before that I wore different hats (research assistant in Nuclear Cardiology for instance...it simply sounds good to write it :-] ).

How big/small of a school/town are you in?

And how long have you been around here?

And now I'm really going to sleep.

by *Rider* (99)

Yep. They have a comfort level with me that many teachers might not like but that I cherish. Comes from teaching them three years in a row. Some I've even taught while in elementary school. One of my grade 10 students last year I had also taught in grade 3, 5, 8, and 9. I think I'm the only teacher that's called by his first name. I've even been asked to participate in some of their school plays. How cool is that!

Good use of constructive criticism and tact.

by *Rider* (99)

Nah, I those little buggers tell me exactly what they think right away. That's why I love them so much. (Grade 8, 9, and 10)
One once said. "We appreciate the fact that you come up with your jokes and your puns on the spur of the moment...but they're really bad!"

Hey, hilo, may I suggest the Helix Potty Trowel on gear-addicts.com? Go see, you'll understand.

Rider, do your students wait till you turn your back to roll their eyes? :)

Maybe I'm cranky at nights when my caffeine wears off

by *Rider* (99)

OK, see y'all on goingprepared. :-)

by Cataboo (318)

Does it make a difference?

You guys should go post on goingprepared, as well.

Then we can have 3 forums in which we're carrying on fragments of the same conversation on and completely confuse everyone.

However, I'm going to sleep 'cause I gotta wake up early.

As I like to remind my students:
You don't cease to play because you grow old.
You grow old because you cease to play.

Childish or child-like?

Hijo,

Have a cookie and drink some of the kool-aid.

by *Rider* (99)

Why let the opinions of a complete stranger about you (or lack of)bother you?

by *Rider* (99)

You don't, he did a lot of hip hip hoohahing the other day.

Cat:

I have never needed to be reminded of that fact. No matter how much of an inconvenience it may be for you. Not me.

I suspect we may be making very different points here. I'm feeling kind of serious right now, and it's bothering me that you won't tell me what you really think.

by Cataboo (318)

Hijo,

Need I remind you that I've got a hoohah and you got a doodad?

by Hollis (17)

not the team kit, but close :o)

"You'll be happy to know I solved my chainsuck problem by buying a litespeed obed.

Which is hopefully chainsuckless. On city streets, it definitely is"

Kat. I knew that was weighing on your mind, and I should've explained to you why I wanted to wait a day and get my bearings before entering upon that conversation with you. I have not forgotten that I said I would help you, I my intent to help you has not changed one bit. I've simply been considering how best to broach the subject with you, because I'm afraid your insecurity is going to show when I give you the exact same advice that helped me when I had a similar issue.

I'm afraid you're going to reject me out of hand when I only want to help you if I can. I'm afraid you're not ready to hear it. I don't want you to take my advice the wrong way.

I didn't want to hear that I was 'doing it wrong' either. I was pretty lucky that my Brother had the patience to keep reminding me over and over again what exactly I was doing wrong even though I didn't believe him and I kept making the same mistakes over and over again. Turns out he was right all along. If I had only listened to his advice sooner...

You've gotta be so difficult. You think your so much smarter than everyone else. You're so petulant! I know you a whole lot better than you think. We're not that different in some ways, Cat.

I dont understand the whole
almost White Mtb clothing thing.
Crisp & Clean does look nice,
