Olympics road race is live on www.nbcolympics.com! And man, is it not interesting!

Don't get me wrong, I love road racing, but the first flat 150km of a stage is just not fun to watch, especially with no commentary.

I have several pairs of Fox gloves that are practically threadbare. Hook it up CL!

Yes to gloves.
No to kid size.

Get some "man hands" gloves up already.

Had a flat on the way to work and replaced it with a cutter tube. A few hours later, my tire was flat. Found out that the valve was leaky. Tightened as much as I could and there still was a leak. No teflon tape at work, but a few wraps of scotch tape around the valve and another round of tightening did the trick.

Great tip, ClubRider! Thanks. :-)

yup- that is what I do- problem is, my "shell" shorts are pretty much shot. lookin for a new pair.

I'll shut up about it, though- I've been crabbing about it for a few days now.

that's what i do!

Can't you just put some shorts over some road shorts and have mtb shorts?

by offpiste1 (46)

hey, no MTB shorts for women. what a shocker.
Seriousy, this site just drips with [ugly] men's mtb shorts- but we've had this conversation before.

hey! more road biking shorts for.....women. what a shocker.

So I ordered these last time they came up. They are quite nice. I to like the long valve for deep dish aero rims. I have not had a flat yet.

Tech tip: If you wrap a thin layer of Teflon tape around the valve before you use these. It will keep these from rattling against the rim.

Also, make sure the valves are tight by twisting the flat portion of the presta valve to the right.

Now is your time to grab FOUR long skinny valves that you so crave.

Ask, and ye shall receive.

I can deal with watery, just not any sort of chalky flavor like some protein stuff has. I can throw some ice in it to keep it cool too. Thanks Dan.

by ATOMICDAN (131)

i find it isn't that bad tasting when it's still cold. but after it's been sitting in a water bottle on a long hot two hour ride it does become less desirable. but for it being a protein enhanced drink it really isn't that bad.

my intial reaction when i first tried some was "oh, this tastes like weaker version of gatorade" it's more watery than flavourable... if you understand what i mean.

by Jim311 (171)

Sounds like a bad Dr. Seuss tale. I guess taste is entirely secondary to performance.. heh. I just want something with some protein in it that will keep me from bonking on days where I haven't exactly eaten right or I'm not feeling tippy top.

Good call Dan, if you are going to do this while watching tv, I would recommend a fluid or magnetic trainer.

by ATOMICDAN (131)

it's a hard decision when the shipping costs more than then product.

seeing these tubes on CL reminds me of the tubes my buddy uses: the Nashbar self-healing tubes. he swears by them - they'll hold pressure for months (even after a puncture) and they don't have possibilities of f'ing up your tires like the green goo does.

you can try leaving the items in your cart, and then checking out later in the day. this is not recommended, due to a couple reasons: cookies/cache in your computer might clear = cart is emptied; or the item might sell out (simply having it in the cart doesn't guarantee you the item). it's in your best interest to just go ahead and buy the item now like everyone else :)

by ATOMICDAN (131)

another thing to think about is the sound they make. wind trainers are the loudest i believe, fluid ones are the quietest. but don't quote me on that.
