The 8-10 times I am checking BT per day has me just missing bib shorts. I will keep the faith that they continue to get posted and BT can have faith that I will buy.

Must be pretty a fantastic machine if it goes for $2300 and only has a 105 cassette (and chain). That seems really crazy.
Yeah, I turned off alerts for CL, BT and SAC after I orderered one of those Commencal Combi S's that were up on CL last week.
I still check all three here and there, and usually kick myself for doing so because I see something that looks like a great deal and I can almost talk myself into buying.
The bad thing will be looking at CL once I get the Commencal (it was delivered today, but I'm actually out of town on business this week and next!) and seeing all sorts of potential upgrades...
Either way, it's weird not having the alerts turned on. Almost strangely peaceful.
I am looking at Carbon Road bars for damping and for a slight weight reduction. My current alloy bars are around 220g so only 30g or so drop if any - depending on the true weight of the bars.
I was very interested in these bars when they were $65.99 but at $99 I will stay with what I have

How exactly to you mess around with stems and handlebars without spending a fortune? I've always wanted to try narrower handlebars but don't want to just throw money away on something I might hate.
Couldn't agree more with just dropping my body weight, I've been trying to eat healthier lately and have slowly lost a couple of pounds. Keep telling myself I don't need these new components to keep up, but they sure make me feel cool, damn Bonktown for putting up all these deals.
yes. i agree on focusing on body weight rather then bicycle weight. i would only worry about bicyle weight if i got into cat 1-2 racing.
also. i've always been told carbon stems are a no no. i've also seen carbon stems break while a rider is putting a heavy force into the bars while sprinting. scary stuff. at least with alluminum there is chance that if the stem fails, it will bend, and you'll have a better chance of not doing a head-dive into your front wheel.
Actually the #1 ROI is losing 5 lbs of fat (or more depending on how chunktastic you are). Once you get down to 5%-8% body fat you can start worrying about losing 10 grams by sanding the paint off the frame.
As far as return on investment on road bikes part replacement for weight purposes here is my top 5, subjective list of what to look at. This assumes you are not replacing the frame.
1. Wheels! (#1 upgrade for weight and performance)
2. Tires (Reduce the rotating weight, and a cheep upgrade if you are running heavy tires you will notice a difference)
3. Cassette (You can shave 150 grams off the heaviest part of the bike running a high end cassette)
4. Crankset (Depending on what you have you can shave 200+ gram and gain stiffness with a good crankset)
5. And the odd one, shoes. Seriously you will notice a difference in many way buy a light and stiff shoe.
Everything else is almost equal 25 - 100 grams here and there. (Bars, stems, components, bottle cages, pedals, seat posts, seats, no paint or clearcoat)

I have tooled around with different bar and stem packages and have found the following.
1. You can save 50 grams or more with a carbon bar but it probably isn't money well spend just to save weight. Careful they are not carbon wrapped aluminum because they are often the same weight or more than AL.
2. Carbon bars are lovely on your body by sucking up road vibration. Even carbons wrapped are better than AL in this arena.
3. Carbon egro bars are great because the have bends and bulges you cannot obtain by bending aluminum. 3T Egronova and Easton EC90 SLX are good examples.
Stems
1. I see no reason to ever but another Carbon stem. They are usually no lighter (sometimes heavier) than a good aluminum stem. Don't offer much vibe reduction. And are tough to adjust perfectly to avoid bar slip, and are susceptible to over tightening damage.
53x12....how much weight would you guess you save on a pair of typical handlebars from a stock bike?
I'm assuming they would also dampen the road vibration also?

I saw them come up a couple weeks ago. The front came up soon after the rear. Also, If you Google Cosmic Carbone SL Tubular there is no such image. Only clinchers come up.
