I think the sights have all sold out and are only selling gear for women. It seems like latly they have only been listing items for chics on all the websites. Besides the fact that they are buying the gear, is there another motivation behind this? Because i am annoyed and jealous! I think us dudes need to overwhelm the forum with our comments on this disapointment.

I'll get back to you on 'more travel' bike recommendation; I have 2 bikes close to being finished. Interestingly one is VPP and the other a URT (yea, a URT!), no four bar tho.
You know BC pulls extra Intense stock out of thin air; the 5.5 is nice, really nice.
To all the FR's shaking your heads, this is about All Mountain. Ride up to get down, go in and get back out. (I won't decline [ha!] a ride to Donner Summit for a point to point though!)
The MTB industry is still trippin', yet I am riding more ferrous hardtail with 140mm at the moment.
Hmmm... in a a reread, all I see are innuendos.

Cool. I've been thinking that a Heckler's in the cards for me... unless I was to somehow snag that last 5.5, here. I'm not counting on it.

I've always been pleased with my Superlight but it's led a full life, and the time has come to move on. I wantmore travel next time, but I've never taken issue with the quality of travel inherent to the semi-active, single-pivot design. Brake-jack be damned. Would you say the kind of slop you're talking about is inevitable (and persistent) with those VPP linkages in their latest incarnation? I'm not looking to "upgrade" to a high-maintenance hastle, is what I'm tryin' to say.

by mr. T (215)

dang hijo, now you have me mining.
But yea, I am trying to stay a 'one Santa Cruz bike at a time' person. My '04 Heckler will just not give up. I hate how quick the Blurs slop out. I mean they are all around me, great Sierra Nevada bike. That said, I can't say I am stingy (I'm on here, right?), but I think I would actually hurt the Heckler's feelings, single pivot, brake-jack and all.

What's the deal with selling a $20 item for $10??? It'll cost you $8 in shipping anyway! Get rid of the items that are under $50 regular price. The only way this site works is if you're saving more than enough to cover shipping costs! And more free-ride gear needed...instead of the same Prologo seat and Timbucktu messenger bag over and over again!!!

by hijo (491)

I've been meaning to ask... does the "T" in your moniker by any chance refer to a BLT.2? Just wondering.

by hijo (491)

Okay then. I, too will scoff at anything with the word gel in it. Solidarity, Reg. It's a pity, though. It's so... wiggly. Are frozen bananas with walnuts, raisins and Cool Whip Free okay (I hope)?

Also, I don't think that I'm completely delusional in as far as this linky issue is concerned. I can't see that there's anything on my end that would cause this problem which didn't exist until a week or so ago, and is unique to SAC, Chainlove, and Tramdoc.

by mr. T (215)

...was just checking reviews and noticed this was a general remark.
First Europe, and now CANADA?
What the hell is happening to America?

oh, here is a sizing chart (CL, gets this info on!)

i do not enjoy jello

sorry

Now that I think about it, the forum link works for me on all computers that don't have the notifier on them, and none that do. I'm going to try disabling it when I get back to my office and seeing what that does.

by bigSAC (180)

The Forum link works fine for me in IE, FF, and Chrome.

by mr. T (215)

as I'd hate to witness conformity in the colors of black, cranberry, mars, and bluenote, these merino wool jerseys are just about a biking staple as padded shorts. Just sayin'

by elton (29)

Was about to check out with the gel cover but server timed out. CL gods, any chance of reposting?

As for the forum link - mine's busted too. Question though - how many of those with busted forum links also have clicked through using the CL tracker?

by hijo (491)

I can't link directly from The Deal page to the Forum page. Same thing at SAC, and Tramdock. It's been over a week now... I don't mean to whine. It's kinda inconvenient though, and it shouldn't have to be this way. Just sayin.

+1 "I laugh in the face of any product with the word gel in it." Jello brand Gelatin's okay though- I mean, right? I like the Sugar Free kind. I like to mix the flavors (like Orange and Lemon, for example) and then infuse them with a complimentary herbal tea instead of regular hot water. That's okay, though- right?

by ATOMICDAN (131)

the forum still works fine for me. both in IE and Firefox, and on multiple machines. i guess CL just likes me! (has anyone actually tried contacting backcountry directly regarding this problem?)

i laugh in the face of any product with the word gel in it.

as for trainers, depends what you want to focus on improving. to just sit and spin, a fluid trainer is fine. they are usually the quietest. for balance, get a set of rollers. they take a while to master, but are excellent at building up balance on the bike. the "rock and roll" type of rollers are generally designed to practice sprinting.

by hijo (491)

+1 "Oh yeah, and fixing the freaking forum links would help." Seriously.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, the '08 KK trainers are identical to the '07s except in color.

And, just in case there's something to this whole Ask and ye shall receive -theory... all I want for Christmas is that Intense Red 5.5 EVP (M)!

How about that road helmet i have been hinting at... Giro Atmos

Bike stand please

by 1WD-4Me (13)

Thank you, CL, for answering my request!!!

Not that I have any pull with you guys, but I'm getting weary of balancing my precious on a 2x4 for those gear adjustments. How about that bike stand?

by Teebird (74)

I got the 2007 Eclispse at Jenson's parking lot sale for $800. It had a scratch in the paint and a clear coat chip in the seat tube which is carbon fiber. The fibers were not cut so the tech suggested just get some clear nail polish and that's what I did. I'm 6'2" and 240 and I love the bike. It's a 59cm. I do not have long legs for my height but a longer torso.
